Benched for Maiava Moss has been benched nine games into the season for Jayden Maiava, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact USC has dropped four of its last five and is now 4-5 on the season. More concerning, however, has been Moss' play as of late. Against Washington, he threw three interceptions while completing a season-low 60 percent of his passes. Head coach Lincoln Riley's quarterback standards are obviously high, and Moss' inability to protect the football appears to have been the last straw. Jayden Maiava, the UNLV transfer, will assume the starting role in Los Angeles.

Impact Moss tossed a season-high three interceptions as the Trojans lost for the fourth time in the last five games. The redshirt senior was intercepted twice in the first half, including one on the final play of the second quarter. Moss bounced back with two touchdowns in the third quarter before he was once again intercepted by linebacker Carson Bruener. Moss has now thrown nine interceptions this season, and he's tossed at least one pick in six of the last seven contests. A recent silver lining has come in the form of sophomore wideout Makai Lemon, who, over the last four games, caught 26 passes for 366 yards and two touchdowns, including eight catches and one score Saturday. Moss will look to clean up the turnover issues when USC next plays versus Nebraska on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Lights it up Week 9 Moss was 20-for-28 passing for 308 yards and two touchdowns during Friday's 42-20 win over Rutgers. He also had one rush for seven yards with one touchdown.

Impact Moss put up perhaps his best statistical performance of the season. The redshirt junior cruised in the first half, completing 14 of 16 passes for 172 yards as the Trojans got out to a 28-12 lead. He was extremely productive despite throwing a season-low 28 passes, as he averaged a season-high 11.0 yards per attempt. Moss has now totaled at least three touchdowns in four of the last six games, and he currently ranks third in passing touchdowns (16) and yards (2,262) in the Big Ten this season. Moss has largely met if not exceeded expectations in his first season as USC's starting quarterback. He'll look to keep it rolling against a Washington defense that has allowed 35.5 points per game across its last two contests.

Big outing in upset loss Moss completed 34 of 50 passes for 336 yards, three touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 29-28 defeat to Maryland.

Impact Moss threw three touchdowns for the thrid time this season, matching his total from the Week 4 loss to Michigan and the Week 5 win versus Wisconsin. Just like those games, he also tossed an interception -- this time with a crucial pick early in the third quarter that helped spark the Terrapins' 14-point comeback. Moss also attempted at least 50 passes for the second time this year. Across five Big Ten games, he's now averaged 2.4 touchdowns to 1.2 interceptions while completing 61.9 percent of his 43.6 passes per game. Moss will look to remain productive when the Trojans take on a reeling Rutgers squad in Los Angeles this coming Saturday.

Throws two TDs in OT loss Moss completed 20 of 34 passes for 220 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 33-30 overtime loss to Penn State.

Impact Moss didn't have a huge role in building the Trojans' lead by the end of the first half, as running backs Woody Marks and Quinten Joyner starred. Moss still found the No. 2 running back Joyner for a nine-yard touchdown in the second quarter and wideout Kyron Hudson (arm) for a five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The senior quarterback then threw an interception with about seven seconds remaining, and threw two incomplete passes in overtime. Over four games against conference opponents, Moss has completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 1,011 yards and nine touchdowns to five interceptions. USC's offense still features plenty of talent, and Moss has shown capable of piloting this unit as a productive passer. The Trojans' offense will look to bounce back against a reeling Maryland squad in Week 8.
