Impact Smith struggled to connect with quarterback Will Howard as the Wolverines' defense gave them problems all game. The freshman wideout still scored the Buckeyes' lone touchdown when he broke free for an easy 10-yard reception in the end zone just before halftime. He also drew a couple of key pass interference penalties in the red zone throughout the game, but this ultimately was not enough to help the Buckeyes beat their archrival for the first time since 2019. Ohio State's loss eliminates the team from the Big Ten Championship Game, so it will have to wait to find out if/where it will fall as an at-large team in the College Football Playoff field. Either way, Smith finished his breakout true freshman campaign with 57 catches (on 78 targets) for a team-high 934 receiving yards and a team-high 10 receiving touchdowns.

Logs 34 yards Week 13 Smith recorded three receptions (on five targets) for 34 yards during Saturday's 38-15 victory over Indiana. He also logged one rush for 12 yards.

Impact Smith operated as more of a decoy in Week 13, as the Hoosiers clearly sought to take him away with double coverage throughout the game. The standout true freshman came close to scoring his 10th touchdown of the season, but he couldn't quite complete a one-handed grab on an 18-yard incompletion into the end zone during the second quarter. Instead, wideouts Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate benefitted with cleaner looks in the passing game, as these two combined for 11 catches (on 11 targets) for 148 yards and a touchdown. Smith still got involved with his fourth rushing attempt of the season on an end-around near the red zone. He should have more opportunities during this Saturday's regular-season finale against archrival Michigan.

This marks just the second time this season that Smith did not record a touchdown -- both of which have come across the last three weeks. His team-high in receiving yards still underscores his role as WR1 for the Buckeyes, as he's now tallied 49 catches (on 66 targets) for 865 yards and nine touchdowns. Smith will look to get back in the end zone during this Saturday's consequential home game against 10-0 Indiana.
