INJURIES

Mets President gives major career update on Jeff McNeil ahead of 2025 season Jeff McNeil was a big part of the New York Mets success this season. Through 129 games in the regular season, he hit .238/.308/.384 with 12...
NOVEMBER 5 • SPORTSKEEDA.COM
Getting start at second base McNeil is starting at second base and batting eighth Friday in Game 5 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact It's the first start this postseason for McNeil, who was added to the Mets' NLCS roster after recovering from a fractured right wrist. He is hitless in three pinch-hitting appearances to this point in the series. Jose Iglesias -- who is 5-for-14 with a 2:1 K:BB in the series -- will begin Friday's contest on the bench.
OCTOBER 18 • ROTOWIRE
Won't be in Game 3 lineup McNeil will not be in the lineup Wednesday for Game 3 of the NLCS versus the Dodgers, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.
Impact McNeil was added to the Mets' NLCS roster after recovering from a fractured right wrist but has been limited to just one pinch-hitting appearance so far and it appears Jose Iglesias will get another start at second base in Game 3. Iglesias is slashing just .222/.263/.222 so far during the postseason.
OCTOBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Out of lineup again in Game 2 McNeil is not in the lineup Monday for Game 2 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact McNeil was added to the Mets' NLCS roster after missing five-plus weeks with a fractured right wrist, but Jose Iglesias will make a second straight start at second base and Starling Marte will be in the lineup again in right field Monday. After lining out as a pinch hitter in Game 1, McNeil will be a candidate to come off the bench again in Game 2.
OCTOBER 14 • ROTOWIRE
Comes off IL, on NLCS roster McNeil (wrist) is part of New York's roster for the National League Championship Series versus the Dodgers.
Impact McNeil ended the campaign on the 10-day injured list due to a wrist injury, but he logged at-bats in the Arizona Fall League on Friday and Saturday in preparation for returning for the series versus Los Angeles. His inclusion on the Mets' roster means New York will carry one more hitter than they did in the NLDS against Philadelphia, as reliever Adam Ottavino was left off the roster to make room for McNeil. It's likely that McNeil will work as a lefty bat off the bench during the NLCS.

Mets add McNeil to NLCS roster while Dodgers drop Vesia and Rojas, add Kiermaier and Honeywell

Tracking to be on NLCS roster Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that there's a "really good chance" McNeil (wrist) is on the NLCS roster as long as he comes out of his two rehab games in the Arizona Fa...
Impact McNeil will play full games with the Scottsdale Scorpions in the AFL on Friday and Saturday -- seeing reps at both second base and in right field -- and it would appear he's virtually a lock to be added to the Mets' NLCS roster as long as he doesn't experience a setback with his fractured right wrist. He would likely take Luisangel Acuna's spot on the active roster, but how much McNeil might play is a question mark. Current second baseman Jose Iglesias is hitting .207/.233/.207 during the postseason, while current right fielder Starling Marte is batting .200/.333/.200.
OCTOBER 10 • ROTOWIRE
Playing in AFL this weekend McNeil (wrist) will play for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League on Friday and Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact The Mets want to see how McNeil handles playing back-to-back, nine-inning games before deciding whether to include him on their potential NLCS roster. He's been sidelined since early September with a fractured right wrist but resumed full workouts earlier this week.
OCTOBER 9 • ROTOWIRE
Hoping for AFL rehab at-bats The Mets have petitioned Major League Baseball to allow McNeil (wrist) to play some rehab games in the Arizona Fall League, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Facing live pitching is the final hurdle McNeil needs to clear before he's ready to return to action, and sending him to the AFL is the best opportunity for that. McNeil appears to be tracking toward a return for the NLCS, should the Mets advance. He's been shelved since early September with a fractured right wrist.
OCTOBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Aiming to be ready for NLCS McNeil (wrist) went through a full workout Sunday at Citizens Bank Park and hopes to be ready to play if the Mets advance to the NLCS, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact Working his way back from a fractured right wrist, McNeil has taken batting practice, fielded grounders and run, with facing live pitching being the next box he needs to check. He has a little less than a week to convince the Mets he should be on their NLCS roster if they're able to top the Phillies in the NLDS. If McNeil is ultimately included on the roster, it wouldn't necessarily be in a starting role. He's been sidelined since early September.
OCTOBER 7 • ROTOWIRE
Ramping up activities McNeil has been cleared to ramp up activities soon after an X-ray showed improved healing with his fractured right wrist, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact There's no word yet on McNeil's potential availability for later in the postseason if the Mets keep advancing, but it seems as though the team is at least leaving the door open. McNeil is less than four weeks removed from a projected 4-to-6 week timetable.
OCTOBER 1 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on IL with fractured wrist The Mets placed McNeil on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Saturday, due to a fractured right wrist.
Impact McNeil sustained the injury Friday against the Reds, when he was hit on the wrist by a pitch in the fifth inning. He will finish the regular season with a slash line of .238/.308/.384 with 12 home runs and 44 RBI across 472 plate appearances. DJ Stewart was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

Out for season Manager Carlos Mendoza said Saturday that McNeil was diagnosed with a fractured wrist and will miss the remainder of the season, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact McNeil had to leave Friday's game early after getting hit in the wrist by a pitch in the fifth inning, and the incident will ultimately end up putting an early end to his campaign. The 32-year-old will finish 2024 with a .238/.308/.384 slash line alongside 12 homers and 44 RBI across 472 plate appearances. Jose Iglesias figures to serve as New York's primary second baseman for the final month of the season.
SEPTEMBER 7 • ROTOWIRE
Exits after HBP McNeil exited Friday's game against the Reds after being hit in the wrist by a pitch, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact McNeil was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and remained in the game for the top of the sixth frame. However, Harrison Bader took McNeil's spot as a pinch hitter the next time through the order. The severity of the injury is unclear.

Taking seat vs. lefty McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Impact The Mets will run out a right-handed-heavy lineup to counter White Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet in the series finale. McNeil will be joined on the bench by fellow left-handed hitters Jesse Winker and Brandon Nimmo.

Not starting versus lefty McNeil isn't in the Mets' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Impact The lefty-hitting McNeil will take a seat on the bench to begin Wednesday's contest as left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez starts on the hill for Arizona. Jose Iglesias will start instead at second base and bat seventh.

Taking seat against lefty McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact McNeil has an .854 OPS with five doubles and three homers through 19 games in August, but he'll sit Sunday against San Diego lefty Martin Perez. Jose Iglesias will man the keystone and bat seventh in the series finale.
