He's just 19-for-33 for 144 yards with two interceptions, a key fumble lost near the goal line and been sacked for two safties the last two weeks. While the Wildcasts should be motivated to give him experience for the upside of a quarterback who may stick around for multiple seasons, another poor outing could have the team going back to the drawing board.

Impact After showing marked improvement the past two games, Lausch took a big step backward against the Badgers. While his receivers did him no favors with several big drops, Lausch struggled with his accuracy and decision making. He lost a fumble near his own goal line when he should have thrown it away and later took a safety in a similar situation. Lausch's outlook doesn't get any easier at Iowa next week and with top receiver A.J. Henning possibly out multiple weeks with an injury.

Impact Lausch continues to improve as he had several very accurate deep passes that resulted in explosive plays while also avoiding any big mistakes. With Bryce Kirtz and A.J. Henning the Northwestern passing attack suddenly has become a worry for opponents unlike earlier in the season. Lausch will face another difficult test this week at home against Wisconsin.

Henning and also made better decisions when to tuck the ball and run. Northwestern's offense may show some life the rest of the season if Lausch can continue to improve.

Impact Lausch has yet to play this season, but Northwestern is apparently fed up with the quarterback play it got from Mississippi State transfer Mike Wright through two weeks. Wright, who was named starting quarterback for the Wildcats at the 11th hour, hasn't impressed, throwing for 336 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while completing 57 percent of his passes through two games. If Lausch can operate this offense more efficiently and protect the football, it stands to reason he could hold onto the starting job all year.
