Impact Foster missed just two shots from the field en route to a solid scoring display, as Duke cruised to an easy win in which they held their opponents to just 35 total points. Foster plays a secondary role in the offensive scheme of the Blue Devils, but that's to be expected with Cooper Flagg, Khaman Maluach, Tyrese Proctor and Kon Knueppel as other options.

Impact Foster was making his first appearance in a game setting for Duke since he missed the tail end of last season with an ankle injury. It certainly wasn't the best showing for Foster, but it does seem like he should be able to lock up a starting spot to begin the regular season on Nov. 4 against Maine. His problem is all the talented incoming freshman and transfers, and how much production does that leave available this season for a guy like Foster.

Impact It was unknown then, but a stress fracture to one of Foster's ankles eventually ended his 2023-24 season by March. But with more than three months to heal, the sophomore guard is at 100 percent again. Now, Foster will be a veteran presence in Duke's new team, one of many colleges who underwent much turnover concerning their program.

Impact Foster has a stress fracture in his injured ankle, which will keep him out for the 2024 NCAA Tournament, and thus the remainder of Duke's 2023-24 season. This leaves the No. 4 Blue Devils without a prominent depth piece going into their first-round game Friday against No. 13 Vermont and beyond. In the form of Sean Stewart and TJ Power, their forward depth will be much taller but with way less experience playing heavy minutes as Foster was used to while healthy.

That hasn't led to consistent production from a fantasy standpoint, however, as Foster is averaging just 5.3 ppg through seven games in 2024 and has been held to single digits in all but one of those contests.

While there's been ample time between games for Proctor to heal up, Tuesday's home game projects to be a lopsided outing, so there's little incentive to rush him back. Foster has been productive at times even in games that Proctor started, but the four-star guard's ceiling gets considerably higher without Proctor available.
